PARIS REINFORCE – Building a low-carbon and climate resilient future: climate action in support of the Paris Agreement

ESMIA was responsible for case studies in Canada, the United States, and Mexico using its NATEM optimization model for PARIS REINFORCE – a large-scale innovation project with 6.5 million Euros funding from the European Commission and involving 18 modelling teams worldwide. The goal of this project was to underpin climate policymaking with authoritative scientific methods and to enhance the science-policy interface in light of the Paris Agreement. The first goal was to develop a novel, policy demand-driven, Integrated Assessment Model (IAM)-oriented assessment framework for effectively supporting the design of climate policies. The second main goal of the project was to create an open-access data exchange platform, I2AM PARIS, to support to support the effective implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and the reinforcement of the 2023 Global Stocktake.
